Mint condition 1974 ROAD RIDER 2 Skateboard Wheels! The first ever precision bearing urethane wheel. Originally manufactured by QPI Quality Products Inc. Out of Cranston Rhode Island. This rare EARLY version of the RR2 wheel has QPI embossed on each wheel, which were later removed when mass-manufacturing began. The original creator of Road Rider was Tony Roderick, who was a salesman for rollers at Xerox copy machine company. He proposed the idea of using precision bearings in a urethane wheel to Richard Novak of NHS… And the Road Rider revolution was born. Color variation was very common from batch to batch originally, as all urethane was hand blended and poured. Eventually the Amber color was fine-tuned. These RR2 wheels have some slight variations, but generally on the lighter amber side. The lighter colors were known to be a little harder, and were preferred by Santa Cruz team riders in the mid 1970s. The Road Rider 2 was the first model back around 1973 / 1974, then the 4, 6, and Henry Hester Slaloms around 1976. These wheels basically put NHS on the map, and changed the face of competitive skateboarding!
